When a bonsai tree starts to tell stories – from AI to reality in the collaboration of VARINEX and New technology

the New Technology magazine features an unusual sight: a unique, dreamlike bonsai tree created not by a photographer, but by artificial intelligence. This impressive example of technological creativity captivated not only the magazine's readers, but also the engineers at VARINEX - so much so that a completely new project was born from it.

VARINEX and New technology has already created many innovative initiatives, but this time the sight of the cover literally opened up new dimensions. As soon as VARINEX engineers saw the AI-generated tree, their imagination was triggered: what if we could not only look at this special sight, but also hold it in our hands?

The thought was followed by quick action. Miklós Dúzs, one of VARINEX's leading engineers, used artificial intelligence to create a 3D model of the digital bonsai tree, which came to life in a printable structure while preserving the shape of the original AI image. The model is not only a technical feat, but also a kind of digital sculpture – a joint creation of AI and human creativity.

Then came the next step for VARINEX 3D Digital Factory: printing the bonsai tree. The technology chosen by the brand-independent provider was SLS (selective laser sintering), which allows for the fast and precise production of complex, detailed shapes. The result: a 25-centimeter-high, elegant, special-surfaced “bonsai tree” that went from digital space to reality within a day.

This project was not only a technology showcase, but also an inspiration for us. Like the New Technology , VARINEX engineers love to experiment with new ideas, push boundaries, and see the new in what others might not even notice.
