Custom 3D printing services on demand

From prototyping to production parts, 3D printing gives manufacturers more opportunities to enter the market.

3D printing, an integral part of Industry 4.0, is overcoming the limitations of traditional machining, casting and joining technologies. This process – which adds material rather than removes it and does not require auxiliary tooling – increases efficiency and minimizes waste. It speeds up the production of optimized manufacturing tools and allows assemblies that traditionally require bolting or welding to be printed in one piece.

In essence, 3D printing enables significant time and cost savings in manufacturing while increasing design freedom.

What is print for hire?

On-demand, digital manufacturing: You provide the 3D model (or ask us to model/scan), and we manufacture it using the technology, materials, and post-processing appropriate to the task — from concept model to functional prototype to end-use component.

The 3 main advantages of digital contract manufacturing:

Full service – from design to finished product

Modeling and back modeling

Remodeling of missing/undocumented parts, with manufacturability correction.

3D scanning

Precise geometry recovery even for complex shapes (measurement, quality control, fitting).

Prototyping and concept modeling

Quickly, with industrial precision – form testing, function testing, fit.

Post-production

Chemical polishing, painting, assembly – finished, presentable or end-use surface.

What technologies are available?

We always choose the best procedure for the application:

DMLS

Direct Metal Laser Sintering – EOS
DMLS is the industrial implementation of laser powder bed metal printing (LPBF), where a high-power laser beam fuses micron-sized metal powder layers layer by layer, creating completely solid, high-precision parts.

FDM®

Fused Deposition Modeling – Stratasys
FDM® works by fused and extruded thermoplastics layer by layer, producing extremely robust, heat and chemical resistant parts with industrial precision. Ideal for functional prototypes, templates and fixtures, EOAT solutions and end-use components where durability and reliability are paramount.

FFF

Fused Filament Fabrication – Ultimaker
FFF is a popular, office-friendly version of filament extrusion that offers a good price-performance ratio for quick concept models and simpler functional prototypes. It is practical in cases where simple geometries are being manufactured and accuracy is not a high priority.

MPBF

Metal Powder-Bed Fusion – Xact Metal
MPBF – also known as laser powder bed fusion (LPBF; often SLM/DMLS) – uses high-power lasers to fuse micron-sized layers of metal powder, creating fully solid, high-precision parts with even complex internal channels and lattice structures.

P3™ DLP

Discover High-Precision – Stratasys
P3™ programmable photopolymerization achieves tight tolerances and excellent surface quality, making it ideal for small to medium-volume, high-precision parts. Recommended for applications where injection molding-like performance and dimensional accuracy are required even in the prototype phase or in small-volume production.

PolyJet™

High-Precision – Stratasys
PolyJet™ photopolymer materials can vary hardness, transparency, and texture in a single build, while delivering Pantone-accurate colors at high resolution. Perfect for design and packaging mockups, CMF validation, and prototypes where true-to-life visuals and fine detail are critical.

SAF®

Stratasys Powder Bed Fusion – Stratasys
SAF™ technology provides consistent, repeatable quality in medium to high volume production, allowing cost-effective production of plastic end parts. It is particularly strong when complex geometries and stable mechanical properties are required in a high-volume production environment. The polypropylene base material offered by the technology is strong, chemically resistant, and popular in industrial applications because it enables cost-effective production without tooling.

SLA

Stereolithography – Stratasys
SLA accurately reproduces the finest details while providing outstanding sidewall quality and a watertight surface. Excellent for master patterns, precision (lost wax) casting SLA patterns, and medical and visual models where surface and geometric accuracy are critical. Also an excellent choice for large-scale (450mmx450mmx400mm) parts.

SLS

Selective Laser Sintering – EOS
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) uses a laser to fuse nylon powder, allowing for the production of hard, dimensionally accurate and geometrically complex parts from a variety of Nylon/PA materials. This technology is particularly suitable for lattice structures, snap-on lugs and thin-walled functional elements.

CFF

Continuous Fiber Fabrication – Markforged
The CFF process uses fiber-reinforced filaments (e.g., glass fiber, carbon fiber filled polymers), resulting in stiffer and stronger prints. This is a good choice when you need a lightweight yet rigid prototype or tool.

Scanning technologies

High-precision 3D scanning

Shining3D
We digitize geometry quickly and accurately with structured-light/laser tools that can be used in industrial and office environments, so even complex shapes can be recovered.

Laser or structured light-based scanning

Scanology
With the technology chosen for the task (laser or structured light), we flexibly achieve the desired accuracy and speed, even for larger objects.

Geomagic Design X - Reverse engineering

Hexagon
We create a parametric CAD model from the measurement data, so that a part can be manufactured and modified even if documentation is missing.

Geomagic Control X – measurement and quality control

Hexagon
Compares the scanned part to CAD to provide a recordable deviation map and tolerance check, which speeds up validation and first part approval.

Post-treatment technology

AMT PostPro vapor smoothing (chemical polishing)

AMT
Automated chemical polishing creates a closed, uniform and easy-to-clean surface on powder bed and filament plastic prints, improving the aesthetics and functionality (e.g. liquid/gas tightness) of the components. This gives 3D printed plastic parts a production-quality look and feel.

Who do we recommend our contract manufacturing service to?

Not just for small series products: at VARINEX, we recommend it to anyone who would like to elevate their idea, product or production process to a tangible level — from a unique sample to a medium series, from a design mockup to a functional final part.

For idea owners, startups, designers:

quick, tangible prototype to validate the idea; multiple versions in one round, with real CMF evaluation.

For SMEs, consumer goods and packaging focus:

Pantone validation, “glass-like” transparency, realistic labels and graphics — mockups ready for photography and shelf testing.

For engineering teams:

complex geometries (lattice structure, internal channels) and tight tolerances for functional prototypes and end-use parts.

For production and operation:
